At Footymums we're always happy to support initiatives that directly benefit kids. Consequently it's an opportune time to feature the FA Tesco Skills Programme.
Youth development plan makes sense
Posted by Admin User on 20/01/2012
The FA's plan for the structure of youth football appears to carry a great deal of sense.......the hardest part might be getting acceptance from the hard-bitten traditionalists (parents and dyed in the wool league commitee members).
FA breaks new ground after 148 years!

The FA has taken a significant step to break the all-male dominance of the organisation with the appointment of a woman to its board of directors; it has only taken 148 years!
What do you think about grassroots facilities?
Posted by Admin User on 08/11/2011
The FA is running a survey about grassroots facilities. Given many facilities are poor (to say the least) it's likely that the FA will get some sobering statistics to ponder. They recognise that with times getting tougher (financially) it won't be easy to even maintain current standards.
Unsung heroes

There are thousands of volunteers in grassroots football. Every week they give up their time to make it all happen and there is every chance that they've been doing it for years.
The highs and lows

It's a funny old game as the cliched expression tells us and no more so than at the moment. The return of the Footymums League generated bucket loads of excitement as hundreds of youngsters took part in what is likely to have been their first game. No doubt this has been replicated all over the UK in the last few weeks.
Cup of tea? That will be a lot of money

The BBC's Price of Football Survey confirmed everything we already knew. It's grossly overpriced and getting further away from the average family as each season comes and goes. At the top end of the game where a pie can cost £4 (and it probably isn't one created by Delia Smith) you know you're in for an expensive day out.

The National Children’s Football Alliance(NCFA) has orgainised its first National Children’s Football Week.Free from the constraints of million pound contracts, league points and football politics the NCFA want us all to celebrate family football by encouraging parents, guardians, carers and friends to support the children’s game. Whether it is a simple kick about in the park, in the garden or with a rolled up piece of paper resulting in a kick about in the living room Children’s Football Week is all about children having fun playing football.
Deborah picks up the prestigious Bobby Moore Award
Posted by Admin User on 20/05/2011
In the world of grassroots football there can't be many people who work as hard as Deborah Wyatt. So we were delighted when she was presented with the Bobby Moore Award before the recent FA Cup Final for all her fantastic work in promoting Respect. It's richly deserved.
You've got to laugh

Took a bit of time away from footy yesterday to watch some rugby ........Leinster v Toulouse. Not a bad game, but the commentators did make me smile.
