Girls
Girls' football continues to grow in terms of its popularity; FA figures indictate that 31% of all girls aged 5-15 are taking part in some way. The expansion of the womens game is gaining considerable momentum and all the UK associations are committed to supporting its growth.
At the younger ages there is no need to differentiate between boys and girls. The great thing about mini-football is that girls and boys can play together in the same team and in the same leagues. As they get older, they start playing in single-sex teams, but with the increasing popularity of the game you'll find that there are a healthy number of all girls' teams around for those age 11+.
Many clubs run girls teams side by side with the boys and there are many clubs that are set up just for girls. It is also a welcome sight to see more female coaches and referee's in the thick of the action.
There are now many girls' leagues that operate the length and breadth of the UK. There will be one near you!
